Small Sided Football (MiniRoos) Age Groups – Boys & Girls
MiniRoos is modified football. Each age group builds on the age groups before and introducing new complexities to the game through increased speed and skill and additional rules. From the age of 6 to the age of 11, MiniRoos aims to provide a fun experience where players will develop a life-long love of the game and for the players to be equipped with the necessary skills to progress to the start of their competitive careers! At the age of 12, there is still much to be learned but the foundation provided throughout their MiniRoos years will serve them well.
So what does Souths United provide for the developing MiniRoos player and then into Junior Divisional football?
- 2015 season will continue the focus placed on both individual and team development that will provide best possible opportunity to participate in the Super Youth League U12 in 2016 (and subsequent years). The U12 Super Youth League is the highest level of football offered by Football Brisbane. The process of selecting clubs to compete in the 2016 competition will differ this year. Select Under 11 teams across Brisbane will move from the MiniRoos format for games to pay 11 v 11 on full sized fields for the later part of the season. Results from these games will determine the final make-up for the 2016 season.
- We will continue to provide the opportunity for all-girl teams in U10/U11 (if numbers permit) with the view to participate in all-girls MiniRoos competition for U10/U11.
- Player participation at all levels of MiniRoos (Komodo Dragon, Goanna and Gecko) will provide a pathway to appropriate MiniRoos and junior competitions as well as development opportunities from within Souths United (Divisional, Super Youth League) and/or National Premier Leagues (NPL) with Brisbane Strikers (boys) / Souths United (girls).
- Souths United provide Development Programs for Under 8 to Under 11 players. These squads compete in selected carnivals during the season.

Souths United Football Club has always been positioned as one of the most successful junior clubs in Brisbane where it provides a balance between community and elite football opportunities and will remain so for 2015. Results and overall performance throughout 2014 saw Souths United take out a number of Tournament/ Cup events and; high representation in the junior finals series with two teams taking out the Grand Finals along with one premiership. Because of our demonstrated strength and capabilities, we saw some of our talented players progress toward selection in the National Premier Leagues Teams for 2015.
It continues to be the vision of the club to provide competition and development for players to suit their capabilities and to provide the pathway for players to realise their potential and personal aspirations. To achieve this, Souths United has further evolved the player development plan and refined the coaching structure to best support player and coaching needs. This along with the upgrade of our facilities with new lighting completed in 2014 and the upgrade of our playing fields to FIFA approved synthetic football turf due for completion in mid-March, will see us ahead of the rest for 2015.
So come join Souths United Football Club in moving toward being the best football club while sharing in the club success and have the belief in realising your dreams to be the player you want to be!
